Hello everyone,
I just purchased a VX220 Turbo a little over a week. Thought I should post on here after being a lurker for quite a while

. Already had to fix a couple of niggles with it. Header tank had a crack in it and I managed to break the bonnet release the first time I pulled it

. Really enjoying the car and it's much quicker/scarier on track then my old MX5. Not sure if I met any of you guys up at Knockhill on Saturday but I was in the blue VX.
Ben.

Hi Ben
i also have a VX (shed spec) , bought it last year to go to Spa, and really enjoying it.
Also broke the bonnet release on the first pull....not sure whats going on there.
Going back to Spa in March, fantastic track.

See, common issues like that bring all Lotus(-esque) factions together!

Most people do that by pulling it the wrong way

Hello Ben, from an ex-vx220 owner
Hope you enjoy the car, is it the one on Ross's blog?

Welcome!
Never broken the bonnet release on mine, but can understand how it's done.
Have managed to break a few other bits of the interior at various points though.
Enjoy!

The bonnet release catch easily falls to bits if pulled/pushed the wrong way or at an angle, you will get used to it, easy fix is to drill through the handle and bracket and slot in a bolt, wont happen again unless you break the whole bracket!!

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone
Yes this is the VX220 from Ross's blog. I think the problem with the bonnet release was that no one had used it in ages which caused it to seize up. So when I pulled it nothing happened, I tried pulling it the otherway and it fell off

. Managed to get it back on though and a bit of WD40 on the cable freed it up nicely. Next job is to work out why the central locking doesnt work, looks like i've got to take the dash off to sort that one
