Welcome along mate - good call on going for training. Too many people buy one and immediately start talking about more power. A standard S1 will still overtake most things at many trackdays - just needs the right driver.

After you actually get it on track, you kind of wonder what you were ever worried about! Safer environment by far than the public road.

Get in about it and enjoy yourself

I did the Hy-Performance course at Knockhill and that was a good intro to track driving (But I have not yet made it to a proper trackday )

I've only had my Elise for just over a week . . . had some great fun on some country roads (including Duke's Pass) yesterday and would definitely like some driver training. The Knockhill thing or one of these Walshy days sounds good.

I know what you mean about taking it on a track. I'm a bit reluctant to do that too.

come along to a trackday and get some laps shotgun - you'll see just how capable these cars are, how controlled the environment is and more importantly, how easy it is to get bitten by the bug!

Very true...

Agree - tracking a Lotus is the only way to go - if a staid old gent like me can do it anyone can...........

I did a quiet trackday organised by MMC as my first trackday, but if your worried about it, then airfield tuition is definately the way to go. http://www.carlimits.com is defiantely the way to go, although north welad is a bit of a hike.

Sounds like a damn good idea. I'd be up for that. Was going to wait til I had a bit more money later in the year to invest in some training, but I guess it's a good idea to get it in before the winter and wet weather.

So, what do all you experienced guys suggest for an initial training session for us newbies? Walshy? A Knockhill training day? Any idea what these cost? Info/links would be useful if you have them.

hey Guys

Walshy days are in Essex and are genius. Long treck, but well worth it.

Might find the KH coaching will get you on track and started though in the interim.

Walshy days are about 170 per serson , if 4 share

Knockhill is about £100-ish for 25 laps of instruction.

Andy, is the Knockhill training just focussed on track techniques? I'd like to learn things that are going to help me control the car better on the roads and also just generally get to know the car, and its limits, better.
