Newbie - No Lotus yet but the search goes on!
Hi - first posting on the site so here's a little about me.
Current garage comprises of:-
1985 Porsche 911 (garage whore and owned for 12 years)
2004 BMW Z4 (for sale)
2007 Ford Transit (used for carrying the KTM)
2008 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 (sold and awaiting to get picked up)
2012 KTM 250 exc (Enduro bike and used almost every Sunday)
Basically I have sold the Ducati and the Z4 is about to follow the same path.
Hoping to get an Elise 111R in the near future as a replacement.
Daily I'm looking through Pistonheads, ebay etc and any new Elise that shows for sale is added to my viewing list.
Hoping to get something with very low miles (less than 10000), basically a good motor that will last and
not cause too much grief, and a decent colour.
I'm almost 44 years old, worked in engineering design all my working days.
Like my cars/bikes and my garage is my 2nd home.
Live in Kirkcaldy.
Do all my own spanner throwing and have a well kitted out garage with lift etc.
I'm about to remove the engine from tthe 911 due to a broken head stud meaning a top-end
overhaul is added to my 'to-do' list.
Before owning the Z4 - I ran about in an old 205 Gti for years, after being nagged about 'is it not time you grew up?' Went
looking for an Elsie but couldn't find on so bought the Z4. Frigging hated the thing from day one. 3 years of ownership and I'm
lucky to have covered 10k miles in the thing with the good lady doing 99% of the 10k miles.
Loved the 205 - hated the Z4.
Enough about me. Go easy on me as a new member - I'm off reading everything I can find and what to look out for in my search.
All the best.
Cheers
Rob

Welcome, Rob. You will fit right in
Don't rule out our friendly local main dealer, Murray Lotus, either. Brandon usually has a sensible collection of Elises in, and has always shown willing (to me) to identify and source something a bit more specific if needed. Sadly he's never had the chance to try in anger as I'm sticking with my much loved and oft driven 13 year old S1, with a vengeance!

Nice list of toys you have there, particularly the exc

Best of luck with you car hunt, lots of friendly banter and advice available on here.

Here's the 911. Owned it for 12 years - makes a good noise and spits flames out the exhaust.

The Ducati thats just about to head to its new owner:-

The KTM when new and now looks nothing like this:-

Not worth showing photos of the z4;-)

Love the 911, would like to pick one up one day, perhaps a nice SC.
Good luck with the search

Let's see what you've done the the KTM then?
I used to have a 2009 300exc - amazing piece of kit.

Rob,
Welcome to Scottish Elises.
There is a meet on this Sunday at Perth if you were interested to meet a couple of the guys/gals and get some info on all things Lotus. Have a look in the Meets section.

Hi Rob, and welcome along to Sottish_Elises. That is one of the best introductions we have ever had, and shows that you are a real car/bike enthusiast.
Quite a collection you have there, so an Elise will go nicely with them. I had a KTM 250cc Motocross bike which I used to race in the 70's, now swapped for a Motability car.

And tut, back in the seventies you were still 103 so shouldn't have been on a scrambler
