Newbie.....and car inspection?

Hello all......
Just found this site so thought I'd register and say hello. Thinking of buying an Elise for some weekend fun and trips away with the better half! Have wanted one of these cars for years but never got round to buying one. Kept spending the money on motorbikes instead!
Anyway, do any registered members know if there is anyone in the Edinburgh area (I'm in Livingston) that could undertake an inspection of an Elise if I find one to buy? Mechanically, I'm fairly competent, but having never owned an Elise it's probably best for me to pay a few quid for an inspection and put my mind at rest.
Many thanks.
Taz.

I am up in Aberdeen, but I am sure that someone closer will come along soon to help you out.
Steve.

I dont think you need an inspection as such, but if you wanted to look at a car then a local owner would be more than able to help.
I work in Livi and would be happy to show you round my lego example, which if nothing else will give you an idea of what an elise is like.......however there are much more knowledgeable elise owners than i kicking about too.

To SE.
I'm sure there might be some Edinburgh peeps who would be willing to look over a car; or may even know the car, or it's history.
Failing that, Murrays might be worth a shout; would probably need to take the car to them and book it in to get it checked over. In fact, Murrays may well know the car, and could possibly offer some pointers on it (regarding it's history.. maybe). Craig is the man to speak to there.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Appreciate the info re. Murrays Dominic and will keep them in mind if/when I spot something.
LazyDonkey, cheers for the offer to look at your "lego" example (?). Maybe I'll get in touch sometime in the New Year so i can look it over and maybe ask a few questions about what I need to be looking out for. Probably going to be looking at an S1 variant as I prefer the looks; roof sounds like a right pain in the butt right enough!
Cheers for now.
John

I think lego refers to the slightly blockier nature of the VX.
Welcome

. Good luck in the car hunt.
Im in Livingston too, not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but happy to help in any way I can.
Dont do many miles but you might have seen me in Livingston as there arent many Lotus on the roads here. I had a Silver Exige for a couple of years before the Orange S1 elise Im driving now.

Some helpful chaps on here let me look round there cars and ask the obvious questions when I was looking. It was a massive help. Now had mine 3 years.
I'm Livingston side of Edinburgh, you'd be very welcome to come and have a look round and ask questions over a cup of tea.
Oh, and welcome.
