The Great Elise masterplan!

Post by r055 » Thu Sep 07, 2006 10:03 pm

Hey folks,
I've been sitting in the background watching the posts for a week or so now and the craic it top notch if you dont mind me saying.

Since my 1st test pilot session in an elise 3 months ago, i've been drawing up plans on how to raise the cash to get the new toy. :?

By pure coincidence, me and my lovely girlfriend decided to postpone our wonderful white wedding and cancel all of our bookings, which then free's up £15k of savings! .... are you with me here...

We have since bought a new house that we're moving into at the end of the month. One with a nice empty integral garage...

Another SE'r (Stephen) is willing to help me in my cause by bringing round his S1 to win the side of the other half. :D - hopefully this is just with the car!

I had bid on a couple of elises - 1 CAT D (universal salvage) and one on ebay 2 weeks ago.

The next one i have my sights on is on Pistonheads which I might PX my vectra SRI on if the seller is interested (i'm awaiting response)
Elise on pistonheads - px for 54plate vectra sri 150
What do you guys think? Worth going for? I know theres not much description, but is it worth a look?

I have the option of getting a company car, so it would work out pretty nicely for me if i swap the vectra for an elise then order a company car.
Maybe an Exige would be on the list? - eh Stephen?

cheers
Ross

Well it's the right colour :thumbsup

Yea not much description there. There are some Elise buying guides about the web that might be worth checking out in order to form a list of questions for the seller?!

I think your boss may get a wee bit upset if you were to turn up with a company exige!!!!

Hullo matey. Get out and drive it before you buy it - there's no way you can tell how good or bad a car is from a few piccies and an owner's description - especially not a car as set-up dependant as the elise. Would be a good idea to take an experienced bod along with you, as what could feel or sound like a terminal problem, could be fixable by a flutter on ebay and 2 hours of elbow grease :D

Best of luck,

Take Tut,
He should be able to show you all the problems before you go and then re-create them on the other car in the space of the test drive!

These guys are a great bunch and will give you loads of advice on buying/owning/fixing/etc. Go over it in detail and, as already said, drive it as much as you can. I almost bought one that turned out to have rear end damage which I only noticed when I stuck my head in the boot and looked back the way to find fibreglass had been painted on to fill in a hole! The respray job was also terrible.

Check everything before buying!

Technically at the moment I'm in Kilsyth, but moving to Blackwood at end of month.
I'm from sunny abronhill originally.

My sister stays at Whitelees road so i'm round there quite often - not seen your Elise around - you must have it under wraps!
