I have waited a long time to just see an S1

Post by Barnyard » Thu Feb 27, 2014 7:49 pm

Any proud S1 owners or individuals contemplating selling their beloved car in the next year or so?
I'm desperate to just see one; where I come from, we only have S2's. Even if you know of any owners who would simply enjoy showing off their pride and joy, please contact me.

I'm a visiting Canadian. Going to be in Aberdeen for business from March 2nd to the March 15th, 2014.
March 7-9th I'm free and will be touring Glasgow and Edinburgh areas.

I've been thinking a long time about buying a pre-2000 Lotus Elise for doing a road trip through Europe and then exporting it back to Canada. I probably won't get around to doing this until the summer of 2015 or later. So I have a long time frame to shop around. Canadian laws prohibit me from importing anything newer than 15 years old, so it's just about time to start planning seriously.

I don't have any plans on returning to the UK for the rest of the year, but I often fly through Frankfurt and will keep an open mind on checking for something available possibly late this year. I'm just hoping on being able to conveniently do my own personal fact finding mission while here on business and just get to see an S1 in the flesh.

Thank you.

There are a couple of Elise S1 here in Aberdeen, but you are probably better heading to Murray Motors Lotus in Edinburgh and you could see what they have in stock.

Hi barnyard, welcome to Scottish_Elises, visitors always good to see..

Great that you are looking at an S1, they are getting as rare around here as they are in the USA/Canada. I live about 25 miles out of Aberdeen and you are welcome to come along to see my S1 and take it out for a run on our empty roads here. It is LHD so you will feel at home in it. However it is one of the first 1996 models but not standard, I have fitted a S/C Honda K20 in so 300hp now as opposed to 118.

It has however done over 300,000 miles and the bodywork is a bit battered, but it is a real working car and my pride and joy. I am retired so at home most of the time. Drop a post on here or call me on 01771 622971 if you would like a bit of fun.

Do not take any notice of any detrimental comments that follow from the clowns on here, they do not respect their elders as they should. :D

If you can make to Edinburgh on Sunday morning, you'd be spoilt for choice.

Probably the biggest collection of Lotus cars in Scotland for a number of years and most models will be represented.

The responses are all much appreciated. Good fun.

As for tut’s comments:
call me on 01771 622971 if you would like a bit of fun.
I didn’t read any extra meaning into it… but when I saw the following posts and then looked back at tut’s avatar pic, I thought, “If my wife sees this, I might have some explaining to do.”
I will definitely give you a call tut. I do have an interest in what the Hondaelises are like.

As for the meeting at Murray’s, unfortunately my plane arrives in Aberdeen the same morning. No way I’m making it down there. Sounds like it will be fun.

Cheers.
