It's been a long time coming...

Post by chrisdb » Tue Jun 16, 2015 12:47 pm

I've been a lurker on her for a long time (2008!) and after various twists and turns in life I've finally bought a Lotus!

Since joining the SE forum I've also moved to Manchester (boo) but still have lots of family in Edinburgh and no doubt will use every excuse to get on some quiet Scottish roads so hopefully see some of you about!

It's a 99 Spice Yellow S1 with a few choice tweaks and loads of the little niggles sorted by the previous enthusiast owner so hopefully won't be too much trouble. Drove it home last night grinning from ear to ear :D

Lovely looking car, azure blue and yellow are my two favourite S1 colours.

All good things come to he who waits!

Wheels do look good. Do you know who made them?

They're compomotives, like Hambo's (can tell by the style & can see the logo on the rear).

Nice car :thumbsup

Thanks guys!

Yep, they are Compomotive MOs - the previous owner had them made to the correct offsets in Victory sizes so slightly wider than standard. Wasn't sure to start with but they have really grown on me :)

Yep I agree. Iv'e always loved the azure since seeing one on the front of Top gear magazine in 1997 (I think) and had always thought I'd get a blue one but I fell in love with this one.

Only changes I need to make are replacing the rear diffuser for the standard one as I prefer the cleaner lines. It has had a full suspension refresh and has quantum zero dampers so I might wind the ride height up a tiny bit too as the speed bumps around me are vicious.

Looks great, love the combo of yellow with black bits! Congratulations.

I'm sure somebody will swap you for a standard difuser if you post pics in classifieds here, SELOC etc.

I've got a standard diffuser in the loft, it has however been damaged by the cat, so there's a line worn in it.

Looks lovely and the Comps look great in silver! A nice change from the usual black. :-)

Thanks all :)

The previous owner kept the standard rear diffuser so I'll get it back on at the weekend. Thanks for the suggestions/offer though.

Will I need a low entry jack?

You will probably get away with a standard trolley Jack if you run the car onto a plank to raise it another couple of inches. Just be careful particularly when you drop it back off the jack that you don't catch any bodywork.

Probably not, as J2LOT says, run the rear wheels up on to some bits of wood if need be. However, Man Rules dictate that any excuse to buy new tools / garage equipment is a valid excuse.... https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/prod ... lly%20jack :thumbsup
