Hey all, just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone as I have just joined.

I am picking up my brand new Elise S at 5pm today!!

It's Starlight Black with the touring pack and the hard top should arrive within a few weeks.

This is my first Elise, infact my first two seater! I have been driving BMW's for years and bought a brand new 730 SE in February which will continue to be my day to day car as I need plenty of boot space!

Needless to say I am taking tomorrow off work to enjoy my new toy!

Dave

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Today is going soooooooo slowly, I'm like a kid at Christmas!

Before I kill myself or more importantly the car tonight, is there any important driving do's and don'ts I should be aware of?

Every car I have ever owned, well apart from my very first, has been rear wheel drive so I am quite used to that, although i'm sure the Elise will be somewhat different!

Just the usual, make sure it's in perfect condition.
Flog the hardtop and get on some runs.

OK, be nice to me as I'm new, but what's with the universal hatred of the hard-top? :?

I think it looks great, especially in black.

or am I missing something?

Lots of people think that you are not real man unless you drive about getting cold / wet and looking camp without a roof.

I took my hardtop off twice (once to give DDtB my seats and another time to trade my car in :D )

I am a minority !

its a long standing joke on SE.

People tend to have their sexuality questioned - always in jest!!!

You right it does look good but you cant beat a bit of roof off action.
Youll see what we mean once you get it off.
Most people take off their hardtops and leave them in there garage/under their bed/sell them on fleabay, because it is so good.
enjoy it, may sure any flaws in the paintwork etc are noted and get her run in asap. :thumbsup

if you need general hints & tips mate - just do a search for 'tips' or summit :) Plenty of ppl have asked the Qs, and there's always the same answers.

One thing I will say (which you'll know if you're a RWD man) is don't have a heavy right foot at this time of year :thumbsup
