When we were out in Ali's car I was asking him if he had the long box - third seemed really long in that so it must be a fair gear in the touring box!

Yep, extra 15 mph in 3rd. Thankfully we didn’t hit 117mph!
You could conceivably cruise a stretch of road in 4/5/6th or thrash along in 1/2/3rd.

Just make sure you get one with the ‘rev match’ option... :thumbsup

Long box good for 100mph in third. License losing in a flash and one of the reasons I could console myself that maybe it wasn't for me, long term.

Still a truly outstanding car by most criteria and would have another

Good choice. 8)

For info - sonething like 103 Sports Racers built. 53 of them were both manual-box and 'charged - the spec I was looking for. Took 5 months of waiting for one to appear in one of 3 colours I was prepared to look at.
Probably worth exactly the same as when you bought it. Almost free motoring :-)

Probably not much use for you if your looking for a Sport Racer, but my old Evora has been up for sale for over 6 months now at Top Fuel:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds ... 10/8103187

History is that its a 2+0 originally spec'd by Graeme Robertson (was salesman at Edinburgh MMC prior to leaving to work for Lotus) before we bought it in 2010. However it has the close ratio box which in my eye made it a great car. During our time we removed the cat for a nicer sound and performed the "£30" mondeo mirror switch upgrade for the folding mirrors.

During our time, we had the gearbox cables upgraded and a new clutch fitted at approx 4k miles under warranty. I then believe that Brandon sold it as a "commuter" Lotus (with a trade in against the shabbiest "commuter" Europa I have ever seen). However it looks like the previous owner has added cruise control, new stereo and blackened the wheels.

If you are interested then Craig will remember my car as I was always fastidious in keeping it in top shape during my 6k miles of motoring pleasure.

Will also add, no interest in the car (except that I wish I had the spare money to buy it back for nostalgia and remove the powder coated wheels)

Welcome along.

Sounds like Simon's car in classifieds is very light what you're looking for, relatively close to Abs too in the grander scheme of things..
