Minds working overtime here, another question for the technically minded... Is it possible to retrofit air conditioning to a 111R?
Cheers,

If I ever get an Exige, I'll get aircon, but I don't see why you'd ever need it on an Elise?

If it's hot, take the roof off and enjoy the sunshine and the wind blowing through the car.

The only thing I guess it might help with is clearing the windows quicker in winter when they're fogged-up, but I find using a wee cloth just as quick!

Try driving in europe when you actually need to put the roof ON for some shade.
If I every needed to buy another elise it WOULD have aircon for that very reason.

Really missing aircon in the elise. Its much nicer sitting chilling than sitting sweating and getting blown about at times.

Tried the cap & sunscreen but at 35,36c with no shade coming out of Monaco there was nothing else we could do but to stick the roof on.
Even the cold air vents were blowing warm air!

all very good suggestions indeed, however I'm looking into exporting the car and air conditioning is an absolute necessity, if it can't be retrofitted I'm screwed because to import the car tax free you have to have owned it for at least 12 months (otherwise the tax is 60%!)... so I can't even chop it in 4 a new one.

I wouldn't bother! My S2 Exige had aircon and it was totally ineffective. I bought Murrays ex-demo, but if i'd have bought new, i'd have been thoroughly pissed off at wasting the money on an air-con option..

Timmsky,
Have you checked all the fuses - this may be a common problem before Aircon restarts

Thanks, but I sold it last year for a 911, however it was working, just very poorly, in fact really the worst aircon i've had in a car. Given the heat build up in the S2 Exige (admittedly, a helluva lot less than the S1 Exige <phew>), you would have thought it should have an icy blast air-con instead of a wimpy cool-your-left-wrist blower
Cheers,
Iain

Must be typical lotus quality control - mine was pretty good - cold and blowy

aircon on my 111R is cool - literally, or hot if you so desire. I wouldn't have paid for it on a new car based on what I had heard but got ex -Lotus car with all the bits and find air-con is worthwhile. Keith
