The ally belled drilled/grooved ones look a whole lot cooler imho. I'm not convinced the weight saving is that much or really worth the price tag. Nothing wrong with buying them because they're cool though! I did :)
I was advised to get them to help with heat dissapation but was told to expect no increased performance, I think the perceived improvement is more down to confidence to brake late without fade.

Increased heat dissipation, straight into the wheel bearings ;)

No, it will be a factor. What I said about braided hoses is that any feel differential will be masked by the servo. They also need to have an eye kept on them in case they fray (as they can do if installed badly) They will have higher heat tolerance and burst pressure than the standard rubber hose though.

REAL disks, on REAL Elises were claimed by Lotus to have a 100,000 mile life span, with the pads lasting 50,000 miles.

My first set of pads lasted for 28,000, and that was including trackdays and a 180hp K engine.

Still have the MMC's on the back, but a bit too much power to risk them on the front.

Similar tolerances to the S1 discs. Mine were down at 24.1 when I changed them at 43k miles

I was told on SELOC, that the service manual is wrong, and that "Min 24.00mm" is stamped on the disk, meaning you have 2mm of allowable wear.

I never saw the stamp on mine when I changed them, but they had a decent sized lip, so enough indication of wear.

Hmm, interesting as mine are currently at 24.92 so if the service manual is right then they're due for a change soon. If it's wrong then I've got loads of time :D

I'd consult Lotus/MMC to confirm.

Looks like the service manual is wrong. I checked the discs tonight when I was changing the wheels over and stamped on the disc is "MIN TH. 24.0mm"
