First 1000mile service

Post by Scottynic » Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:33 am

Just phoned MMC and they are saying I will have to wait 4hours to get the oil changed, that a bit long is it not?!

Do you think I should bother taking it there to get it done or should I just take it to Falkland?

Think your kind of trapped until warranty runs out.... worth it for re-sale with a car so new.

You might decide to flog it in six months, people would expect the first service to be done by a pukker Lotus dealer.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Yeah afraid i would use the dealer for the first service. It gives them a chance to go over the car and also correct any warranty issues. You should only be paying for the parts mind. Labour should be free! It should cost no more than about £70 and you should be able to get a courtesy car out of them! cheers

On the subject of servicing my car has a full service history but the C service is due.

Thing is I have just fitted a new head/cambelt plugs, new oil blah blah blah full Bhuna what would be the point ? other than the stamp. will it effect my resale that much ? the car is a 1998 S1

Agree with what Ed says since they will do their 'checks' over the car. However you don't need to take it to the dealer for servicing to keep the warranty intact.

Provided you use OEM or equivalent parts. For the 1000 mile service though I'd go to MMC as the labour is free and you can get the inevitable niggles fixed under warranty while it's there.

Doubt it - at that age, condition is more important than long service history - sure it'll be worth something to someone, but many buyers will not care.

Cheers,
