I leave my s1 Elise for a week whilst I go to London, and when I return it's making a noise...
The brakes also squeak a bit, but this one is quieter, and sounds more like rubber against rubber kinda noise, any ideas?
Also, I found a piece of metal, about 3 or 4 inches tall, by about 1 1/2 wide, with a bend at 1 end. I think it come from the bit where the door hinge is on the passenger side, what is it and do I need it?! Should the doors stay open when you open them wide, mine don't so maybe it's something to do with that?
Rubber like squeak when I brake and when turing right, and..

The metal plate is the spring that holds the door open, so yes, finding it lying in the bottom of the door recess explains why the doors don't stay open.
Squeaking could be anything ... see if you can make it squeak just by bumping the car up and down at various corners with the engine off, handbrake off, not in gear (so flat bit of road then ...).
Cheers,
Robin
