Pulley's

Post by BiggestNizzy » Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:19 pm

Being a tight fisted bugger with access to a machine shop :D Does anyone have ant sizes for a crankshaft Pulley and Cam Pulleys ? they shouldn't be that hard to make.

Be aware that I think (ready to be shot down here) that the crankshaft pulley acts as a damper for the crank and lightweight ones can cause problems if you don't balance them with the crank.... IIRC of course (which I may not...)

Do you mean the crank timing gear or the crank alternator drive pulley? What are you hoping to do with the dimensions?

I've got two spare cam shaft timing gears (they are identical, but you can have them both anyway).

I have a spare alternator drive pulley but not a crank shaft timing gear - that went to Iain up in Inverness.

Robin

I was planning of making them out of Aluminium, and yes I will have to get them balanced, i've balanced grinding wheels before so I'm not overly concerned,

As for reasons, Cause I can really and I can make them out of Ally or maybe something else possibly an exotic :D

I have crank pulleys in stock in black anodised alloy, smaller dia,to reduce weight and alternator speed, but to use them ,you need to have the crank and fltwheel balanced ,as Shug has said.
As for cam pulleys, the standard ones are lighter than any aftermarket ones,so why go to the bother unless you want to adjust cam timing,in which case, again, you cant make them cheeper than you can buy them.

That's fair enough - so it sounds like you want the cam pulley and the crank alternator drive pulley ... your's free of charge if you want them ... let me know.
