S1 front side light bulb socket part - corroded to fek

Post by Scottd » Wed Aug 08, 2007 1:34 am

I'm assuming this is a generic 'parts bin' part, anyone got any part numbers / or info?

Got a feeling it'll be easier just to completely replace the whole part than try to take apart and wire brush etc saying as most of it is plastic / 8 years old.

cheers

Scott

I think I have a couple of these from when I renewed my headlights recently. They look pretty standard and would think that you could get them from Halfords or D & A Factors.

Gimmie a shout if you want the ones I have (I think I still have them  )

Cheers

Cheers but I replaced my headlights about 18 months ago and I think that part isn't included.
- techinical description  - I think it's the bit that goes onto the bit that comes with the headlight. D & A Factors are good as long as you know the exact part number, otherwise you tend to get the traditional Dundonian version of 'customer service'. :sigh:

P.S. replacing corroded headlights...I recently mentioned this to Sanjoy, my 18 month old headlights are already just as corroded as the ones I replaced. It might be worth looking into trying to cover the backs of the headlights with plastic or summin.
I think they are designed not to have a flimsy wheel liner between them and all the salty water the wheels spray up.
