Here are the symptoms - car is idling at 1800 -2000rpm and won't rev past 6000 rpm and is not showing a temperature on the dash. Ally very kindly had a look on Saturday at KH and give it the all clear to drive back to the Newcastle. Car was fine all the way home but still has the fault. Have booked it into F1 down here as HHC couldn't look at it for 2 weeks. Would have gone to JPS but the car has a Lotus warranty.Spoke to F1 and they reckon the sensor may be away and the car thinks it is running cold??

The dash temperature on an S2 is provided by the ECU, which in turn is looking at the voltage from the black temp sensor - the blue one is a blanking plug and isn't actually used as a sensor.
The car may well actually be cold of course, due to thermostat stuck open. What happens if you are stationary and leave it idling - does the temperature come up then (don't leave for more than 10 minutes or so)?

The car was reading a normal temp (80-85) in stop start traffic for a while on the way home but still idiling high, then it went back to not showing a temp at all.
Havn't left it to idle any longer than a couple of minutes and have checked the fan isn't jammed as well.

Both myself and a friend ( Pete039 ) have had these symptoms on our 135Rs.
In both cases it turned out to be a bad connection to the the black / ECU tenp sender ( not the sender itself ) We cut the plug off, extended the wiring by a few cms and attached small spade terminals to fit the sensor, sealing in place using silicon sealant - No problems since.
Don't know why the 135R seems to be particularly affected as I assume it's the same loom as other S2 k-series.
