Cloggy run wobbly exhaust

Post by Matelotman » Sun Sep 09, 2007 9:06 pm

I found the reason behind my wobbly/banging exhaust - on one of my heavier landings, I've hit the flexi through the hole - this has jarred the exhaust back and resulted in the mount and retaining bolt being sheared off (I can't imagine that this is a standard method of exhaust mounting but does anyone know of a bracket that fits this?) I've fabricated a semi permanent one anyway so no rush if there's not one

Where's the mount?

Best bet would be MMC?

Yes, there is a Lotus special part that bolts onto the cat flange and has a post to go through the exhaust rubber. Costs about £1 from Lotus - I bought 10 once upon a time because loads of cars are missing them - but I cannot find them :-(

Cheers,
Robin

Could have been one of many landings.... cheers Robin, I'll get onto Lotus but I've made a makeshift bracket that should be ok in the mean time.

Chris told me that when he fitted his Gaz shocks, he guessed at ride height settings, and ended up with 60mm at the rear.

That has to be some sort of Elise record.

So imagine the height of the rear panel/diffuser

Now all sorted at 120mm at rear

 Not what you need over the jumps. :)

Remember Scotty's old S1 when he did the 'Finnish Rally' stylee flight heading south from Glenshee? Resulted in wheels through the clam and bent wishbones. :(

I braked heavily after seeing him take off and it was still the biggest jump I've ever had! Rounded the next corner to see him trundling along with a comical wheel wobble...
