S2 111R Dipped Headlights
Folks,
Just wondering how easy is it to adjust the S2 111R (2006) dipped headlights.
I was coming back from Moffat on Saturday night and noticed that the lights are pretty diabolical (probably due to them being so low). Just wondering whether it is best popping the car up to MMC for a quick check (as would hope it would be covered by warranty if they were positioned incorrectly).
Cheers

You'd be better off biting the bullet and buying a dipped beam xenon light conversion. You can get a kit from Elise parts for about £250 and MMC or Ali at SLS can fit them in an hour or so if you don't fancy doing it yourself. MMC did mine about a year ago.
Totally transformed my Exige at night, MUCH better.

My dipped HID kit was about £160 in one of Yvo's group buys, don't think I'd pay £250 for them. They are really good I just don't use my car at night much so wouldn't bother at that price + fitting. Fitting yourself is easy, even Gareth managed with a little help.
The light covers are accessed by undoing 3 thumb screws in the wheel arches. They'll probably be too tight to undo by hand so you can use an allen key (can't remember the size) to undo them. You don't need to take the wheels off.

Simon, on my 111R there was no way to get in without taking the wheels off, as the screws were underneath the wheel arch liner. Same on Ken's Exige when I helped change his headlight bulb. I guess the 111S must be different.
So, Douglas, it's wheel off, arch liner off, three screws and then slide off the cover.

Quite easy to tell - HID/Zenons call them what you will have a really distinctive blue hue to them.
They should also come on like a fluoresent (sp) blub and more than likely come on like dawn breaking at the horizon (from bottom up)IFSWIM.

Nope, none of the models to date have HID/Xenons as standard or even as an option. Even the MY06 LED rear light models (like mine) have projector lens halogen lights, your is the same.douglasgdmw wrote:I have a 2006 111R (that has the led at the back) and I was under the impression that these did have the HID's. Is this correct or am I mistaken?

They have a dipped beam kit at £225, it's seriously worth doing especially with the longer nights drawing in. That's assuming you drive the car at night, if not then don't bother.
Try fitting it yourself first, if not budget £50 for someone else.
Hope that helps.
