Brake Calipers - Refurb/Replace??

Post by Tom » Thu Oct 11, 2007 4:14 pm

My brake calipers need refurbing. The fronts are ok for the time being, but the rears are def in need of some attention. Pentland Components said they can refurb the rears for £117 each inc VAT. This is just under half the price of buying new ones from Lotus...(which is good...).

Anyone done this, or know of anywhere else that can refurb calipers, or preferably somewhere that's tried and tested??

(Have checked the Laguna caliper.. It's similar, but not the same.)

Also, have a seized nipple (ooer..), so geary's refurb kit is not much use (anyone know if it contains everything I'd need for a refurb?... http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.ph ... cts_id=656)

Can I apply heat to try and remove the nipple? ( assuming I've found somewhere to leave the car with no brakes...)

Heat yes but it's ali so don't go mad.
A decent garage should be able to remove it without too much drama.

A firm bite may be enough
