Reflashed ECU in, MIL light on

Post by gdr » Fri Oct 12, 2007 5:56 pm

Got my reflashed ECU and put it in, reconnected battery and started up, just fine. Idling OK etc. but the MIL is on. Let it warm up, tried half dozen restarts to no avail. Will I need to get fault codes cleared, or does it just need to be driven to let the ECU sort itself out? Engine completely std apart from "optimised" ECU.

depends on why the ecu thinks the light should be on - the mil will reset its self after a few cycles of fault free operation, but if its still on after half a dozen or so, it might need investigation properly. If you've got a friendly garage nearby, you could ask them to plug in their OBD analyser and see what the ECU fault code is....

Cheers,

Thanks. I'll use for a bit and see what happens. Never been an issue previously and allegedly ECU should be the same as before apart from cam switch. It will, of course, have been through a traumatic experience during reflash so may take a while to settle back into its routine.

20 miles, several restarts and a stern talking to and all is well with my MIL light again. Reflash good, now looking forward to KH on Friday to check it out properly!
