Nope, but in the end it was the raw-ness of the S1 that pissed me off as I was using the car more, whereas its what I liked to start with when it was summer.

But I didnt ever testdrive a VX, as last April when I bought my S1 the only ones to be had under 11k were damaged repaired.

Would be a difficult decision now that VXs are cheaper.

Oh, and I wouldnt have been able to live with the S1 if it only had that fabric roof, from a leak and security point of view.

now thats an offer I might have to take you up on. :D :D

Thing is, will also be running my trusty VW Polo as its still mint and not worth selling. Also, from a practical point of view it makes sense to keep it(also gf with her clutter would not want such an impractical car as her only wheels  )

The the car I'm looking for will be a second car(and the price I am looking at is sub £10,000/9,500 if I can. Thought about a VX but a bit too pricey as I reckon I can get a quality S1 with not TOO many miles for 9ish.

I could be deluded though

No idea abotu s1 prices to be honest but I think the cheapest VX that went recently was Daves bucket, sorry pristine car, which went for £10k However remember that even the cheapest / oldest cars are were only built in 2001.

Drop me an email / pm if you want to shotty in a VX I'm only a bit along the M8 from you. 8)

........might even be at KH sometime soon. Maybe. Perhaps.

on the other hand, the S2 can be made to handle ok as well, and buy the time you upgrade suspension and geo, there not that far apart.
Indeed and it's a route that I have went down as you well know. The std S1 still feels that bit more edgy and involving, or perhaps I'm just throwing it around a little more than I do my S2.

The big plus for the S2 in the lowered sill. I still haven't worked out how to get out of the S1 without hurting myself!

Where's that video that we all laughed at?

I really wanted a hard top at first, but i'm not so sure now. Its a hassle finding somewhere to store it when its off and TBH the soft top has been pretty watertight.

I'm well impressed with the refinment and useability of my S1 - boot aside - it rides better, is quiter, is MORE watertight, less rattly than the K plate mini that was my fun drive before it

For yerself, I'd advise coating the aperture with goose fat, shutting the other door with the roof on - then fart.
