**Headlight Alignment ** Help Needed Plz
Recently put my S1 1998 Elise in for an MOT and it failed on headlight alignment. Was wondering if the cowling round the actual headlight would come apart from the front clam shell. Would b grateful if anyone could help with this as i have just had a respray and dont want to damage the paintwork.
The adjustment is done without removing anything. Put the wheels on full lock so you can reach inside the wheel arch and pull down the plastic arch liner. This lets you get your hand into the rear of the headlight to adjust the 3 butterfly screws that aim the headlight. Very easy, the biggest problem is knowing where to aim the lights to.
When I changed my S1 headlights, I reversed the car into the garage and shut the garage door. I had previously marked the beam on the inside of the door and then set them to this.
Obviously you wont have the old measure but you should be able to get an idea of how far out they are.
Providing the adjusters weren't rusted up (maybe a long shot) I don't think it would take the MOT'er more than 10 mins to adjust them for you.
