squeeky clutch when cold?

Post by Jamie84 » Sun Dec 23, 2007 6:14 pm

Iv noticed recently that my clutch is really squeeky for a bit, then as the engine warms up it goes away ?? I am not sure if it gets any stiffer but it may a little .

little worried as this happened in my MG last year , then it went really stiff, it was quite expensive to fix . Clutch fork or summit .
My clutch is nearly new though , only done 4k , anything to be worried about ?

The clutch on my Elise did this. Exige does it sometimes. I think it's a case of TADTS.

spray it with a lubricant like silca spray, or silicone lube, or grease it especially around the trunion

you will have to adopt the lotus postion, i used the passenger side, easier to get access to pedal area.

Apparently this happens with Caterhams too and one of the most recommended fixes is furniture polish. I've tried it on my car and it seems to work well - just spray it into the bush at the top of the pedal

I'm confused . . . do you mean the pedal is squeaking or the clutch itself? With mine, it was the clutch itself - the noise was coming from the rear.

It's got its uses, and might fix it for a wee bit, but its not great as a long term lube. If you've got any spray on bike chain oil, it would be a good bet.

while at stand still with window down this mornign I noticed that the squeek is actually comming from the rear of the car .

Called ali, he said its no big deal somthing is catching on exhaust heatshield. Prob explains why it goes away when warm.

Oh and my cars booked in for the 18th for service . whoopee
