Suspension bushes & arb

Post by ABZ-Elise » Thu Jan 10, 2008 8:10 pm

I've decided to give my suspension a full overhaul. My plan is to replace all the bushes, ball joints and track rod ends. I'll also be upgrading to bilstiens and having the wishbones powder coated.

Is it worth going for polyeurathane bushes? and would it be worth putting in an uprated arb?

Kev.

If your going to get your wishbones powder coated consider having them treated like mine first as you are based in aberdeen it shouldn't be that hard to find a place that does industrial coatings for the oil sector I used Surface technologies and got mine coated in armourfend 3000 "beetleback" as I was told it was the mutts. I have no idea of cost as I blagged mine as a freebie.

Are you doing it yourself Chris?

I am basically having the same done by Mark Hutcheson shortly on N3 with the existing Nylatron bushes replaced with new ones.

He will also shot blast the wishbones and have them powder coated by Keith at PPS. I would like to go for an uprated ARB as well, as I have one on N1, but have to stop somewhere. As he is also now servicing Elises, he will be going over anything else that he finds.

Yeah plan to do most of it myself...Trying to save the pennys. If I could afford to send it down to him I would. It will go back to Mark for the geo set up, will use him for servicing to I think.

I heard that Nylatron bushes weren't suitable fo everyday use as they're to hard so was just going to go for the polyeurathane bushes. I've got the front clam off just now so just decided that I'd do everything, then I'll move onto the back.
