more tyre questions

Post by bigrichi » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:41 pm

sorry to bring this up again but a couple of quick questions which i cant see being covered in previous threads.

i have an s2 111r on original bridgestones. the 2 fronts have plenty of life in them but the rears need changing.

i have ruled out sticky tyres due to budget, wont get proper use out of them and the mileage i do. i use the car mainly for road use but fancy gettin on track when the weather breaks a bit.

i fancied changin to a 195 front tyre as from reading previous threads seemed a good move.

heres the options i was thinkin then

- just stick to bridgestones and replace the rears. (best for my wallet just after xmas  )

- was cosiderin a full set of tir's as will be able to get the 195 front and plenty of folk sayin good things. (just within my budget)

- set of ad07's but would leave me sellin limbs. (prob out of budget if realistic and only 175 fronts)

heres what i'm wonderin tho.

- dont here many folks opinion on the bridgestones on here?, only about different options to change to.
- the toyo is cosidered a budget option compared to some so would it be a step back compared to the bridgestones?

i think what i'm askin is, are the bridgestones best changed at the first oportunity?

tried to keep this simple but i'm very bored at work and got carried away

thanks

i

I didn't think the S2 standard rims would take 195, that is S1's could be wrong though..

Toyo and Yokohama both say that T1-r's, r888's and A048's will fit onto standard S2 rims, so you can fit 195's without issue.

I've got 195 t1-r's as my winter tyres. I like them, and i like the way the car handles with the 195 fronts.

This is just my opinion though, as tyre choice is very subjective - your best bet is to try various options for yourself!

As for the bridgestones, they're a pretty good road tyre but i wont be going back to them.

If you can get a cheap set of rear Bridgestones they are probably a reasonable option to see out the winter. Then when you can afford it get a full set of whatever you fancy for track use.

The Bridgestones are fine, but there's many an opinion that the AD07s are better all round.

Get a set of RE040 rears and you're ready to rock until after the summer.

You are a grumpy git, but I have to agree.

If they are good enough for lotus (now standard) then they should be good enough for us all!
