Immobiliser Woes

Post by Pedro » Mon Jan 14, 2008 3:24 pm

Hey Guys,

Any experience of swapping Key Fobs & the Immobiliser..? I think my battery went on my old key fob, and I couldn't switch off the immobiliser. Luckily I recently bought a new spare key fob, & thought this was a good time to put it to use. It did work eventually, but the immobiliser seems to be slower now...as in enabling and turning off with the new key fob.

My question is, do I need to do some step to fully enable the new key fob, like some sort of synchronisation..?

Cheers,
Pete :D

Does your car have the master alarm key switch under the dash (pax side footwell)?

You may need to press the button twice to get it to work. Once it's working you should press and hold the button for at least a second to transmit the entire code sequence, which should resynchronise the transmitter and the receiver.

After that, if it's still slow all I can think is that either the button is a bit flaky or the button works but the transmitter itself has low output power. Does it work any better from point blank range (point it at the instrument binnacle from outside the car through the windscreen.

Cheerrs,
Robin

Thanks Robin,

Worked fine this morning, must have just been synchronising that made it slow on Sunday. :D
