You'd need quitre a big cabinet to do wheels. We've got an old Gunson one, and tend not to do anything bigger than Mini rocker covers.

Also, it takes ages to blast something like a grill.

£10 each to get them blasted and powder coated is probably only marginally more than buying a tin each of etch primer and top coat!

For blasting alloy, glass beads give a nice finish. grit can be used to remove stuck on muck / paint, but leaves a very rough finish.

The cabinet I'm looking at is a DIY one made form MDF, so the size is down to how big I make it! I would like the option of wheels, but not going to make a habit of it (yet) I just like the idea of tidying up small bits mostly.

Oi! :)
Anyway that is my old car, and I must have stripped and painted those grills (front included) about 3 or 4 times while I had it! Tried satin black plasticote stuff last time after a thorough scrubbing and three coats of primer. Nothing seems to last.

A wee bit of t-cut or similar gets the rusty stains off the paint.

I doubt it will have lasted, but whenever I was replacing the rubber rawl nuts (available from B&Q last timie I looked) I always coated the threads with a lot of coppa-slip to ease taking them off later, as I realised it was gonna be a regular job. Failing that, carefully cut the bolt heads off with a dremmel or something if they just keep turning.
