Front Clam Repair

Post by jamiey » Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:14 pm

Someone decided that bump parking with my Elise was the best way to get into a tight parking spot.

Unfortunately they didn't leave their details...

As a result the front clam is slightly crunched.

No holes or big cracks.

Can anyone recommend where I can get this repaired?

I'm hoping this won't require a new clam.

I'd rather not claim on insurance but if a new clam is required the I suppose I'll have to.

A few people will come by and say Steve Walker is the best place to go so maybe give him call :?: - looks straight forward enough to repair...!

If I was you i'd either -

a) find a small garage who will smooth it over and paint the clam for you..

or

b) wash it down get the flakes of paint off it and then use some touch up paint to cover it - the front only ever gets abuse from the crap on the roads anyway! And you prob won't even be able to tell...

p.s option B

Sorry to hear that - it's happened to me twice now!
First time, the guy left his details - so clam off job, courtesy car etc - bill came to £900. That said, that was through the insurance company, it'd be less if you were doing it privately.

The second time it happened, I've left it as is - it's a bit annoying but you'll get over it eventually, and just drive it.
