Right... think I have figured out what is causing the vibration through the steering wheel....
It seems my track rod has a fair bit of play in it on the drivers side front and so the wheel is a bit wobbly.
So first thing is obviously to replace this part - which I'll probably try to get done when the car is in at Mac's Autos getting it's exhaust and brakes done
Just wondering... where's the best place to get a new track rod, how much are they and also... should I replace the other side at the same time and maybe use this as an opportunity to upgrade the track rod ends too????
Cheers!
Dave.

give WD autofactors a ring in Dunfermline to get a quote. I've been getting all my parts from them. Brilliant service & excellent pricing. the owner has a lotus too, which helps loads!
I don't think they post stuff though, but you could just ask i suppose.

Make sure you can put the track rods in separately. May be a rack recon thing, but I've never done it, so can't advise. I know they are in the rack with big ball & sockets, but don't know if you can get them out without dismantling the rack...
Saying this from memory, so somebody please correct me if I'm talking out of my arse....

I have a set of track rod ends in the house. The track rods are part of the rack and will require a recon if it is away.
I'll pop round tonight for a looksee.

Depends if it's the inner or outer ball joint that's going.
Inner = new or reconned rack (not a mac job I'm afraid)
Outer are to big an issue to do, but you'll need your toe reset afterwards.
Toelinks are at the other end of the car dave

sorry 'bout that... just a 48hr STD thankfully!
I'll need to get my account off hold with a PPP night next week at my place then (PS2, Projector & Pizza!)
Cheers!

Seems a bit steep for a copy of the original part with no proof of quality or compatability.
Stu, fancy doing a run of bits?
What are the racks off anyway, bound to be a maxi or an imp or something.
