Advan Neovas or stick to T1R's?

Post by offshorematt » Wed Feb 27, 2008 12:50 pm

I'm currently looking for a new set of all-weather tyres for the S1. The vast majority of the car's use will be on road (with very occasional trackdays) so I'm thinking I'll avoid the A048/R888 route at present. I've had two sets of T1R's in the past and got on okay with them but wondering if it is worth spending the extra and getting a set of Yoko Advan Neovas. I assume from the price that they're a better tyre but are there any downsides to them (wet weather performance, say)?

Brooke kensignton are quoting me £471.36 inc vat and carriage for the LTS ones in the correct sizes so they're not exactly cheap. Do folks on here rate the Neovas highly enough to recommend paying twice the price of a set of T1R's? I'd be interested in any comments

Or alternatively, anyone know where I can get them cheaper?

Cheers :D

Matt

Can o worms... Plenty been said about it if you search ;)

Long and short, some think T-R's fine, some hate them - no matter what, the Advans are definately regarded as a better tyre.

Neovas everytime :thumbsup MMC in edinburgh will do an SE discount of 10% on a set and deliver to your local JM group garage.

Toyo are also about to or have released a new tyre in the correct sizes; the R1R's. Not sure of availability or priceing, but the look similar to the neovas and are a halfway between R888's and T1R's.

personally I'd give the r888's a try.

They dont wear at anything like the rate of the 48's but still offer great performance :D

I think the new R1r's are delayed until summer (or Autumn)... from what i can make out. I personally want to give them a bash, so only have 2 track nights booked between now and June in an effort to keep the T1r's serviceable (should be fine).... If I do end up wasting the T1r's before the R1r's are available I might try and see if you can get Yoko Parada Spec 2's in Lotus sizes. I put these on the Fiesta and am really liking them...
