MOT advisory points

:shock: Passed today!
But with a smallish expensive list of advisory points!

Shopping list

- Two front tyres sitting at 1.6mm ( anyone got a half worn set of RE040's kicking about?)
- Front discs
- Front pads
- Rear pads

Oh and the insurance is due this month!
Anyone lend me a grand!?? :(

who done the MOT for you Rob?

ive got both cars to get through an MOT in time for the annual Taxing of both cars. I have just replaced tyres on both as well
Im booked in for a full wheel allignment of the 'other' car at the weekend also! :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Seems like the month fo spending money on the lotus.

Just got my Rack recondition
Full GEO
Insurance today
MOT due now
Tax on both cars due

Not good on the old wallet :(

Who did your rack, as I've just about finished doing mine, cost a grand total of £25 - maybe £27 if you factor in buying a spring balance to measure the preloads on everything 8) Piece of piss once you get the rack out.

Titan £140 it cost. She told me at first under £100 :evil: . It got the 2 track rods replaced and just about everything else.

Depends on what state they are, the garage that did the porker failed it on brakes as well as all the rear lights being "inneffective" meaning they worked but were not bright enough. They were basically angling for me to pay for all the bulbs to be changed as: "they go black over time mate"

Bollocks. I took them out and clened the reflectors, back to just dim instead of feeble. Fair cop on my brakes being duff, factory wear limit was somewhat greater than the thickness of my disks... About 50% greater... :oops:

I treat all garage opinions with suspicion, check them out, measure it all and see how it adds up. Rossybee can vouch for how long pads last, the last 3 mm or so lasts for ages... (The backing plate!)

Is there any legal requirement to get 'advisory points' fixed within a certain time?

Nope. You have a green ticket. The car is legal and road worthy. However if the garage is any good then they are worth fixing!

No legal requirement, but good garages will give an advisory on something that is OK at time of test, but likely to need done before the next MOT.

Craig - you still got those part worn front RE040s I gave you? Or did you use them on the S2 before you got rid of it? If not, you could pass them along the SE chain to Rob :thumbsup
