starter motor problem

Post by Scottd » Sun Mar 02, 2008 3:24 pm

When I start the car its sounding like the starter motor's not disengaging quickly enough. So it makes that noise you get if you turn the ignition when the engine is already running.

Do I need a new starter motor or might it just need taken off and oiled a bit :)

Not heard of folk having issues with this.... but then not really been looking I guess.

cheers

I would deffo remove the starter and take a look at the solenoid - no doubt with some patience you'll be able to dismantle, clean and reassemble it - hopefully will be running as new afterwards.

Compared to everything else on the engine the starter ring and drive are pretty tough, so hopefully won't be doing much damage ...
