Honda Elise S1

Post by Jacobite » Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:47 am

Hi all
just wondering if there is anything in paritcillar I should look out for when I got to view a car with this engine conversion carried out by Blink Motorsport over and above the usual stuff I'll need to check when viewing the car?

Any particullar weak points in the S1 apart from eccessive play in the steering rack and ball joints
Apart from making sure it does have a honda engine in it

Any tips on where to get it insured would also be appreciated
cheers

I have two BLiNK Elise S1 conversions, but you are a bit far away to pop in and have a look.

The date of conversion is very relevant, N1 was over four years ago and one of the originals, N3 was two years ago but very little different, however in the past year Rich has been fitting the Link-Up kit which has several improvements, especially in the wiring loom, gearchange linkage, and driveshafts.

Let me know the date and number of the conversion and I can check with Rich for you. It is likely to be a used UK Type-R engine, but both of mine were new JDM spec engines which would be quite a bonus.

Hamish

Just found the details on SELOC.

"38,000 miles Sport 160 in azure blue
Honda conversion carred out about 10,000 miles ago by blink motorsport. New Nitrons, pagids, and ali bell disc's filled about 500 miles ago.
Also comes with 340r seats and harnesses
Looking for a quick sale so looking for £14K no neg."

The S1 Sport 160 came out in 2000, so for a 38,000 mile car with 10K on the Honda conversion, and those worthwhile upgrades, I would have thought that £14K is a steal.

OK Update
After finally getting hold of the owner
It's been frequently tracked ~has the stone chips to prove it, missing anti squeel shims on the pagids and a loose glas on the drivers side.
It is apparantly one of the earliest BLiNK's conversions @197bhp although there is no BLiNKs build plate and he was unsure exactly when he had the conversion done?!

Looking at nipping down to have a wee look see during the week
Does anyone know of a dealer or Lotus Techie in North London I could take it to for a quick once over?
Will be able to check most of the obvious things myself but would like an expert to have a wee look too

Chatted to Tut and got a Few pointer cheers M8
Still early in my search so I'm keeping an open mind.
