the plan is to swap back to wellies for the winter and only use the R888 in summer. P.S. snowy pic on my avitar was taken this morning. :D

Hi Alex,

If your not tracking the car, why not save some cash & go with T1-R Toyo Proxies, cost about £270 full set all round, they grip in the wet, and last longer than the 888's... :thumbsup

Trade off is that they do not perform as well on the track, but hey, if your not tracking anyway...

Cheers,
Pete :D

Good point Pedro but the pics from SIDC at the weekend have had a hypnotic effect.

Dude, in all honesty, you won't use the grip a set of 888 will give you if you're not experienced with it on track. Get a set of T1Rs, drive it, enjoy it, track it on the T1s - they only start melting when you give it serious stick for 20 laps at a time (exactly what you shouldn't do as a track newbie anyway) The T1Rs are great and progressive on the limit - perfect to learn the car. Also, if you're gonna track it on 888s, you'll need to give serious thought to upgrading the toe links (take this from a man who's had them fail)

Seriously, why waste the cash on R tyres when you won't get any advantage yet?

Dans just fitting a set to mine just now. Risked it long enough with the std links. Getting it sorted before Donny.

is it me or is this verging on the sensible?

shug has a point - and i wouldn't run R rated tyres without the toe link upgrade

Agree with Shug,

I ran T1-R's for my first trackday @ KH Sat past, and found they stick to the track really well :thumbsup

thanks again Andy. Shug's advice is still pretty much on the money regarding R888s regardless of toe-link upgrade.

Not so sure about that Andy. They really aren't much better. I wouldn't use sticky tyres on any Elise without proper toe-links. Even the Toyota engined ones suffer.
