OZ Wheel sizes

Post by Andy » Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:34 pm

What is the width of the rear OZ wheels that came on the 135R? Is it 7"?

Am I right with the rest of these sizes?

Front: 6.5" x 16" ET31
Rear: ??" x 17" ET18

Searched Seloc but can't get that last size.

Cheers

Andy

*edit* can you get a 7" wheel on the front?

From Elises.co.uk
Wheels & Tyres
The Lotus Sport Elise 135R is fitted with O.Z. Racing one piece lightweight cast alloy 16-spoke wheels. While the rear wheel size remains unchanged the front wheel size has increased from 5.5 inches to 6.5 inches to give a more positive turn-in during track conditions. The O.Z. wheels are fitted with Yokohama AO48 tyres which have been developed in conjunction with Lotus to suit the requirements of the performance driver, with special emphasis on track use.

So rears are 7.5x17

Thanks :thumbsup

Can a 7" wide wheel be fitted on the front? Fancy getting a second set of wheels, one for the track tyres, one for road :)

It's possible, but what tyres are you going to fit to that wheel? There isn't much clearance between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch liner, and with a bigger tyre you might find there is contact. The real question is why do you want to do it? I'm not convinced the 135R will handle any better with a wider front tyre. Lotus are actually selling of the O.Z. wheels "cheap" at present if you just wanted a second set ...

Robin,

It's purely to get a second set to stick some track day rubber on with the same sizes as before. If I can get another set of OZ wheels they will do :)

Cheers

You can get Team Dynamics which look pretty similar to OZ's Andy. I'm sure they are about the £500 mark for a set (without rubber obviously). Not sure how that compares to the cheap OZ's (how cheap is cheap BTW...).

Thanks gorrie,

That was the wheels I was looking at but can't find anyone who'll quote for them for the Elise

Although they sound like they may be for Toyota fitment, so may need spacers... in which case you could pick up a set of 2nd hand exige wheels with rubber for £800 and do the same.
I'm sure a bit of digging will uncover K-series fitments somewhere....

EDITED: Actually their website says that they do team Dynamics to fit all Elises (inc 340R), so it might be worth a quick call depending on how cheap Lotus are doing OZ's for.

No probs, and good luck... I found another place doing Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 sets of 4 16's with tyres for £550.... and a set of 4 17's with tyres for £650. Didn't check the offsets or the tyre sizes... but, if there was 2 people wanting a set, and you were getting the correct offset/tyre sizes, then that would have been a bargain to buy a set each then split. In reality though, it probably wouldn't have been as easy as that...
