As my cooling saga continues can anyone tell me what temp the fan is supposed to come on at?

I thought it was 102 ( well that's when mine starts)

Yup, around 100 is about right for an S2.

What are the symptoms pete??

mine got to 104 before I turned it off with no fan... What temp should I let it go to before panicking???

S1s and S2s are (IIRC) differnet, S1 has 2 senders, a brown one for the ecu (inc fan) and a blue one for the stack, so they are not necessarily both calibrated exactly the same. S2s only have one sender so should not have this problem.

Poke the fan make sure it still goes round, check the fuses (I assume it has its own) and I would allow it up to 110 or so as long as you have no history of HGF, liner issues or waterleaks :thumbsup

Probably about 103.5 by the sounds of things :)

If its not on by 104, you've probably got an issue THB.... Check the fuse first, and if thats fine, try bypassing the fan relay with a paperclip and see if it turns on.

if its reached 110 degrees the chances are the cooling fan is siezed. take the front grill off and see if the fan moves. if it doesn't then its a clam off job to replace it.

They do jam stuck and do not always blow the fuse. PITA to replace a clam off.
