Post by Guidedog » Wed Apr 23, 2008 9:05 pm

Started up my S2 and yellow "engine" light came on. what do I need to fix.

Also, my manual was damaged and is unreadable where might I get a new one. It will avoid me having to ask embarressing questions like this again...

Hi mate,

Could be any number of things - the light is just a generic warning that the ECU has detected somthing not quite right. If the fault goes away, the light will clear its self automatically after a few starts, but it may be wise to plug the cars brain into a diagnostic reader - this will tell you exactly what the ecu has found fault with. If the car is running OK, and the light isnt flashing, you're probably OK to drive it... If the light starts to flash while you're driving, you risk damaging the cat.

I know Ali is just along the road from you & has a nice ECU scanner... Would be worth while giving him a bell, but i'll guess that its nothing too serious :thumbsup

Cheers,

Steve

When was the car last serviced?

When I got mine - it had only done 1200 miles in 18 months. It kept misfiring - quick service - filters changed and it was fine.
To be on the safe side, get it plugged into a fault reader.
