FALC - Tuning spark Tables

Post by Rich H » Sat Apr 19, 2008 9:05 pm

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone had some generic ideas about tuning spark tables, I have come to the conclusion the one I have for the Porker is bollocks.

Don't want to pay for a dyno run if I can avoid it as I have another engine now* and that will be "tweeked" (Refreshed and blanced as far as budget and SWMBO allows) so I want to save my tuning budget if possible.

TIA
Rich

Richard,
its a bit of a ball ache to be honest. it all depends on VE and combustion chamber design and is different for each engine. there is no hard and fast rule theres a few pages in Dave Walkers book. gives you a rough guide. il try and give it a scan for you.

ive done it a couple of times on the GTti. ive never got one 'right' but it gets better each time. having a masive turbo it was a nightmare to try and reduce lag by keeping it slightly retarted, but still having some decent torque before the boost came in. then when it started boosting it acellerated so dam fast you had to listen for detanation very carefully!!. starting from scratch takes AGEs on the road and miles and miles of stop start driving (i was on my own) but you get a feel for it after a while.

whats wrong with the map you have? does it just feel flat?
