It appears that I have an oscillation in one of my front wheels. I take it that this means that rather than a kerb dink (which it obviously isn't), I've hit a pot-hole at some point and managed to buckle the wheel slightly. Is this like when you buckle a bicycle wheel? ie is the whole rim out of line or is it possible to just be localised damage?
Basically, can it be fixed?? And who can fix it??
TIA

Could it not just be that one of your balancing weights have fallen off??

Sadly not. The oscillation has appeared the last couple of times I've had the front wheels balanced. The last occasion was with Willie at CLCM, who reckoned it may possibly be due to me having refitted used tyres. He said that sometimes if you take an old tyre off a rim, and then reuse it later, it might have deformed slightly during removal/refitting and therefore not recover suitably for balancing. I'm about to replace the tyres so I'll see if it's possible to check the wheel before refitting the new tyre, and if it is, see if it can be repaired.
I have a bad feeling the wheel's out of shape though..
ps symptoms are rather than the vibration you get from 55 - 70 (wrong balancing weights), I'm getting pretty horrid vibration at around 85 - 95..(obviously only a track-day problem, but it's irritating none the less...)

Tom,
Stick the wheel on a balancer, spin it up and look at the inside edge as it spins. You will see if the wheel is out of shape, either with a wobble or a dent in the rim. I have the same problem with a couple of mine, which I have now replaced.
When you have been getting them balanced, if you ended up with a bunch of weights 180 deg opposite to each other then the likelyhood is it's buckled as the weight placement is trying to counter the effects of the wobble.
What type of wheels are they? not rimstocks BAC.

Not sure. I think there may be a few different sorts of rimstocks. I've got the early 5 spoke S1 wheels.... (is that what you mean??)

Oi, I resent the implication that I am some sort of a track shy fairy......
I attend trackdays to explore the capabilites of my car which exceed the extent of the law.
And anyway, I'm saving this years track fundage for FF7
