Understeer/tyre pressures.

Post by Jamie84 » Wed May 21, 2008 9:10 pm

After reading a thread on seloc I have been wondering.

I noticed lately when turning in hard that the front of the car felt very understeery , it didnt quite turn in the way I knew it could .

My front tyres are pretty low on tread which I know wont help but , the car seemed fine only a few weeks ago .

Anyways , I used to have my tyre pressures at 22F/24R. I recall reading something and thinking this was maybe a little low so I changed to 24F/25R ( I think will check tomorow ) defo pumped them up a bit anyways.

Is it possible that this changed has cause this understeer feeling ? If so , I know its been posted before but whats the best pressures for road use/ocassion back road blast ?

I run my 48s at 23/25 and it feels fine. I did the same on the s2. The only time it felt understeery was in the wet or when the front tyres were past their best.

My fronts are pretty far gone and the understeer is a lot more noticeable (on 888s). New tyres should make a big difference once they've been scrubbed in :thumbsup

no, suspect its down to your tyre wear.

I ran my old 111r (which was on Exige springs and wheels) at those pressures and it never felt understeery.
