Okay , another problem tonight, horn content

Post by Jamie84 » Sun May 25, 2008 6:47 pm

proplem after problem at the moment with the exige

Seen ma mucker wee johny doon the toon e night , tried to give him a toot and nothing !

So I travelled the whole way up my street using my horn , Sometimes it beeps others it doesnt (dogwalkers werent impressed), when It does beep its accompanied with a click noise coming from under the dash somewhere ( relay of some sort)?? ?

I would have thought if the fuse had went then it would be gone completely along with a few other things on that circuit , but its working somtimes .

Sorry for the high volumes of SE help need with my niggles , Would rather try and solve problems here first rather than bother Ali, I know he's a busy man . :thumbsup

cheers guys.

When the horn doesn't toot do you still hear the click?

I would guess not and in all probability that means the problem is likely to be with the rotary contact that links the wiring to the button in the wheel. I had problems with that in my first S2 - though of course it may be totally different on the newer cars ...

Pop out the thing that is the button in the steering wheel and see if there's anything obviously dodgy about it ...

Cheers

Thanks m8 , Just noticed the fault tonight will get a better look at it tomorow

Only clicks when horn works , I'll pop it off tomorow , from an electrical point of view it does just seem like a dodgy contact/connection somwhere.

What problem next ......

The horn in my elise stopped working not long after the Kames trackday. It just makes the click noise when I press it, not intermittent like yours, just completely dead. :( Any luck sorting yours Jamie?

Heds, you have a different problem; your horn really has become disconnected or broken. Check all the fuses first, though!

Cheers,
