Total Loss
Total Loss
It will come as no surprise for those of you that saw the car that the insurance company have said its a total loss Cat D~having got to £15,000 for repairs just on the bodywork side without looking at the suspension thankfully it was an agreed value and NCB protected
They asked me if I'd informed the DVLA that the vehicle was a total loss ~ I had informed the DVLA that it was in an accident and for insurance puropses a total loss as every body panel was damaged, also that it was my intent to replace the body clams and rebuild the vehicle
Does anyone know if I will need to re-register the vehicle or have it inspected by the DVLA or re MOT'd once this is done? ~my only understanding is that Cat D is the lowest Cat
I did take out a SORN for the Vehicle to claim back the road tax as every pennys going into the rebuild kitty
cheers Hamish

Re: Total Loss
Category D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage, probably not structural, but insurer does not want to repair, even though it might be economic to do so. Often stolen and recovered after claim has been paid. Or for unusual models or grey imports where the difficulty of obtaining new parts hinders a quick repair. Does not need VIC inspection to return to road.
Cat C is repairable but needs a VIC inspection, ( csots about £40 to establish that the vehicle is what it claims to be ( Not a ringer)
Cat B are not repairable and must be crushed .
Cat A burn't out shell

I thought cat B was salvageable for parts but must not be returned to the road, cat A is must be crushed, no salvagable parts?

Hi Craig
Thats the plan ~already started picking up bit and pieces from around the country when the price is right
Still waiting on the insurance company but have a hankering to get something to get back on track while I/we rebuild this one
