Rebuilding Begins

Post by Jacobite » Thu Jul 31, 2008 1:24 pm

Got the car back from the salvage company and from what I can see so far the N/S Steering rack control arm is bent, no chassis damage that I can see so far
Now back to work ~I'll post up progress reports or wanted lists ~ in exchange for beer vouchers or holiday money whatever

Worth pulling the rack apart (info on SELOC's TechWiki) and checking it won't have cracked one of the nylon cups. Will have in all likelihood, but parts to refurb are all of £25.

Hi Shug thanks was just going to send it for a refurb as there was some play in it already

Now got the front clam off and there is some periferal dammage to the crash structure ~ the lip around the front is dammaged in several places

Although whats more worrying is that the O/S Cant rail is under compression from the windscreen surround ~not so much you cant removet it with one hand but enough to see the windscreen move about 1/8 of an inch when you take it out ~I'll messure it more accuratly later

Both sill's have gone too
Front under tray, both rear under trays and the rear deffuser
1 X stop/Tail Light
3 X Indicator light

Although I only need to get one of the dual headlight cowels from Geary to salvage the headlamps

Dan showed me a newly moulded sill he got from the guy who makes the exige kits - dont think it was that pricey, and the old one had been cut off to allow the new one to be bonded on. Its the guy who ed bought the red car from.

I will have some indicators going soon (although maybe not the clams now) but will keep you posted.
