Throttle cable adjustment

Post by graeme » Mon Aug 11, 2008 10:11 am

Does anyone know of a guide to adjusting the Rover K throttle cable? Mine has stretched/slackened off, so foot-to-the-floor I'm only getting about 75% throttle butterfly openness.

Ali did adjust it for me (at the throttle end) last time I was up, but as I was in the driver's seat doing the footwork I didn't see how.

Not sure whether to fix the pedal end or the throttle end, and what adjustments to make. Should I leave it alone for fear of making it worserer?

TIA,
Graeme

The throttle cable goes onto a bracket which has two lock nuts on it . Slacken the lock nuts and adjust their position . You want to move the conduit away from the bracket tightening the cable and removing the slack . Adjust till it hits the full open stop. If the idle changes you have gone to far. If it hits the full open stop too much you will just stretch the cable again.

Thanks Alan. I'll give it a go at the weekend with a second pair of hands/feet.
