Hi everybody,im having problems with the horn on 98` S1 elise,i was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram ,or know where i can dowload it.
here is the problem ,
i have 12v at horn switch at the steering wheel,the relay clicks when you press the horn,the horn itself works as i have tested it on a battery.
any ideas anyone as it is really bugging me now.

Hi, moved to Technical which is where this sort of question belongs.
Have you checked fuse 10? If you can hear the relay clicking then the only possible problems are:
(1) Fuse 10 not feeding the relay.
(2) Break in wire from relay to horn.
(3) Bad earth at the horn.
You can check these with a multimeter or test light and some wire ... if you remove relay for horn (see owner's manual for which relay is which) look at the terminals - one will be labelled 30 - the terminal in the relay panel that corresponds to this should be live at all times - if not then it is fuse or wiring upstream from here (purple wires). If that terminal is live, identify the terminal on the relay labelled 87. Now use a short piece of wire and short from the terminal corresponding to 30 to the terminal corresponding to 87 (i.e. stuff the wire into the relay panel shorting those two pins together). The horn should sound. If it doesn't then you need to check the earth wiring at the horn and continuity to the horn.

I`ve checked fuse 10 and it seems ok,put a wire to terminals to 30 and 87 and it didnt work,
i`ll try a indipendent earth tomorrow and i`ll see how that goes.

Ive sorted the issue ,the wire from the fuse box to the relay box was damaged so i replaced it .

Was the wire damaged underneath the fuse box - there was an issue on some cars with there not being enough space for the wires and them rubbing on some part of the clam and fretting through the outside of the cable - Campbell, didn't your car have this - any tips?

yep Lawrence found a broken wire under my fusebox, in my case it was the feed for the radiator fan...can't remember the exact fix (other than some bodging with tie wraps!) but I think in the process we did try to either re-route the wire or improve clearance from the base of the fuseboxrobin wrote:You're welcome

Yes it was ,i think it must have been trapped as it was corroded.
