Engine Management light on

Post by Andy D » Sat Sep 13, 2008 12:01 am

Coming up the A68 tonight in the 135R the Yellow MIL light came on. I'd been driving for a couple of hours and only had 20 miles to go to get to Edinburgh so carried on. This happenned once before in January and I was told it might be due to the Cat being removed although it was taken off about 9 months before the light came on. F1 in Newcastle put it out and its been fine until tonight.

Question is - where's best to get it fixed Saturday morning, I've only got an hour spare so not sure if Ali can do it or does it need to go on Murrays diagnostic machine?

2nd question - If I can't get it fixed on Saturday morning can i drive it safely back to Newcastle and get it fixed during the week?

cheers

Andy

Stick it in to Ali - let him read the code for you and take it from there. It could be anything from a whole range of problems from something to forget about to something that's going to go boom.

It only takes 5 mins to read the code.

And he can reset the MIL at the same time - then you'll see whether it's a recurring problem or a one off.

Cheers,

According to the manual it is not safe to drive if the MIL is flashing. If it is constant it is normally a warning and therefore safe to drive.

It takes seconds for someone with a reader and a manual with the codes to advise why it is light. Sometimes it goes off after 5 restarts. Hope you get it sorted. Formula 1 in Newcastle are a great bunch of guys if you need help whilst in Newcastle they have worked on a few SE cars including mine in the past, worth mentioning SE to them.

Ali is your man by the way he does have a reader :thumbsup
