S2 elise heat shields part numbers??

Post by ABZ-Elise » Tue Sep 09, 2008 3:14 pm

Does anyone know the part numbers for the S2 heat shields that fit the piper 4-2-1 manifolds. I've only got the S1 parts list. I want both of the heat shield , upper and lower.

Cheers,

Kev.

Don't know the part numbers, but I think you'd be hugely cheaper and get a much better end result using some heat resistant material like Nimbus and making one to size?

Actually, the heatshield from Lotus is not that expensive - if you ask the parts man at Murrays he'll tell you the part number and even order you one. Don't forget to order the lower heatshield (which is a bent piece of metal about 6" by 3" that bolts to the lower chassis rail, like were the lower angle brackets from the old heatshield bolted. You'll also need a length of threaded rod, a tubular sleeve to fit over it (bit of copper plumbing pipe or similar) and if I were you, I would also order the alternator heatshield and the cam cover heatshield.

The advantage of using the S2 heatshield pre-formed is that it just fits so no messing about. BUT you will struggle to get the lower bolt (which is a coarse pitch thread self-tapper) threaded if you have already fitted the manifold - it's best to attach heatshield to manifold with just this screw in place, then bend the shield back to fit all the 15mm nuts/studs, then finish the job with the heatshield.

Cheers,
Robin

which reminds me the lower heatshield is the one part remaining to order up for my own exhaust kit!

....I too suffer that rattling heat shield just at the back grille (on my s2). Looks like it has corroded at the fixing bolt. Has anyone used heat wrap instead of replacing it over and over??

:thumbsup
