Right update time.

Oil leak (Should) be fixed now. :D Pretty straight forward but I had to get medieval on the old seal. This is for LHS.

Idiot's guide by the numbers:

1. find leak
2. jack up, position axel stands, and remove undertray, position bucket/driptray
3. wheel off, pads out, disk off
4. Remove shock (2x bolts)
5. separate ball joint carriers from hub carriers (2x allen bolds 4x hex bolts) drop shims, disconnect speed sensor.
6. manouver hub carrier out of the way so the inboard end of the drive shaft clears the subframe (Just).
7. get the biggest screw driver you can find and wedge it btwn the drive shaft and the old seal.
8. swing on said 'driver and joint will "simply" seperate with a pop.
9. use the same 'driver to lever out seal (Medieval time :chainsaw) will drop into the bucket and splash oil every where
10. replace seal and drift home (Long extention, big socket and liberal light hammering)
11. line up drive shaft and rotate until splines engage, thump it home.
12. Remove fill/level plug (f'king tight!) and top up, ensure car is level (I lowered it on the jack.)
13. Simply do everything back up (Ha!)

I got to 6 and it started to piss down, so I am now totally drenched. :(

Undertray is still off so I can check for leaks tomorrow and I'm fed up for today.

Not too bad but would be so much easier if it wasn't raining. I didn't even loose much skin, all I have now is a tiny splinter that hurts alot.

Good style sir. So, you'll be buying a marquee soon then?

Glad to hear it wasn't a total 'mare though :thumbsup

Going to fit the undertray after I get some food, then if the weather holds I'll go for a test run.

I did the last bit from 6 onwards under my shower cape. I looked like Batman! No need for a tent! :D

No leaks apparent so I put the trays back on and went for a spin.

MY GEARBOX IS QUIET!

Trust me this is a novelty. I did have quite a rattle on overrun but its gone!

I wiggled the temp senders too and my temp has stabilised as well.

Good chance the box was a little light on oil, or the oil was just badly contaminated. My 'box, with a load of fresh oil is pretty silent now too. Beforehand, with the slightly more aggressive idle, it sounded like a bag o bolts in a washing machine.....
