Trakrite Wheel Alignment Gauge

Post by kpb » Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:24 pm

I have just finished fitting my new suspension and as I have lowered the car by 30mm now need to check the front and rear wheel alignment and saw this tool for £42.
Has anyone tried one or can anyone recommend somewhere in Aberdeen that knows what they are doing.
I might even try the string method if anyone has had sucsess with this.
Cheers

Don't think twice about buying one - the best tool I ever bought and saved its cost in tyres many times over. Just find a good flat surface and place a rubber mat under it to stop it slipping. Aim for zero as many of the figures quoted are for static (not rolling) measurement.

Never used one but I did buy a Sealey laser wheel alignment gauge which I used to check the string method.Used the idea in the Seloc wiki . Found the string method accurate but takes a while to do , setting up takes the longest. I have not done the rear.

I will be selling the gauge at some point and using the string again.

Thanks for the reply folks.
I have read the Seloc string geometry pages and I think I will give it a try and see how it goes from there.

I have one of these, great device. I place a board of the same thickness under the other wheel to keep things even.
