S1 Rear Clams

Post by foz01 » Sun Feb 01, 2009 4:00 pm

Are they interchangeable, my rear boot bag type is donald ducked and probably beyond an economic repair, can you fit a box type or do you have to stick to the same type?

cheers

I've been told that they are intergangable as the longerons are the same although the fiberglass boot box type use a steel prop to support boot lid as opposed to the plastic boot cover/ U channel location under the engineto support the engine lid on the alloy boot box versions. In 5 month looking I only came accross the 1 alloy boot box version which I bought.

If you do go down the Fiberglass boot box route I'd be intrested in you alloy boot floor and bulkhead

Hi Mate if you swap to a fibreglass boot you will either need to move the electronics or modify the boot. On the fibreglass boots the ecu is located on the forward boot wall, wheres the early one is is inside the back left corner. When I did tuts, I just cut a hole in the boot and fed the wiring through as you place on the boot, you will need to extend some earth conections which are currently connected in the boot. Other than thats its a doddle. Cheers Craig.
